Match report Broomhall - mid table at the beginning of the day faced bottom of the table Fauldhouse. Serious points were on offer, could Broomhall do it? The toss was won by the skipper who opted to put Fauldhouse into bat. A strong solid start by the batsmen saw them reach 63 for 1 at the end of 20 overs and 144 for 2 at 37. The remaining wickets fell for 31 runs by the end of the 43 over with Phil Ward taking 7 wickets for 34 and a run out, Ian Bold and Mat Howis taking a wicket a piece. All the team stuck at it in the very hot conditions - welcome back David Goodchild.
Our batting started off at a blistering place, 52 for 1 at the end of the 9th, with Jack Hynd unfortunatly being run out in the 5th over for 8. Paul was caught for 23 and Ian Bold had to retire hurt on 16 when he pulled his calf setting off for a quick single. Charlie Stoddart and Calum Breen added some more quick fire runs before also losing their wickets. Ali Gudgin and Mat Howis did their best to steady the ship and build the hopes of the home team up. This lasted for 8 overs when Ali was bowled, Mat was eventually out for 30 having played some good shots. The final two wickets also fell cheaply leaving Broomhall 52 runs short of the much needed victory.
