Match report After two relatively easy fixtures the U13s came down to earth with a bump against Largo, seemingly unable to cope with the batting of Nick Baddeley. Nick is a good batter at the best of times, and better when bowlers appear scared of his talent. When Nick retired everyone perked up and started bowling much better; the Broomhall first three bowlers took 1-44 whilst the later bowlers took 9-11 between them, Largo all out for 66. In reply, the Broomhall innings was going along nicely until at 20-2 we managed to stage a collapse to 29-7, losing 4 wickets in one over, two run outs, a bowled and an lbw. A last wicket stand of 14 (highest of the innings) took the score to 49 before Callum was stumped from a wide ball. Erin remained undefeated.
One can only hope that lessons were learned.
1. You must bowl well to good batsmen and do not be over awed.
2. You must be livelier in the field, although some good catches were taken.
3. There were 5 overs left, need to improve defence. NB Erin and Callum did well at the end.
4. Two run outs were unnecessary. Communication.
5. Keep your feet in the crease when the wk is standing up.
